Coastguard Rescue Magazine

Coastguard New Zealand Rescue Magazine     Coastguard New Zealand in conjunction with Fairfax Media launched it new magazine RESCUE in September 2009

The magazine aims to share national stories of saving lives at sea, in a bid to convey a greater understanding of the work Coastguard volunteers do, in keeping Kiwi’s safe on the water.

“Rescue, is our reality television show but in a magazine,” says Coastguard CEO Bruce Reid. “We have over 2,500 professional volunteers across the country, who regularly achieve extraordinary feats, and affect the lives of thousands of Kiwis every year,” says Reid.

Coastguard volunteers provide around 300,000 hours of their time each year monitoring calls in radio operations rooms, crewing the rescue vessels and air patrol, and coordinating search and rescue efforts.

A large portion of the content for Rescue comes from the experiences of Coastguard volunteers, who dedicate their time ensuring the search and rescue service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In every issue of Rescue, you will find pages of stories from on the sea including; behind the scene details of the latest rescues, memorable historic profiles, International rescues and volunteer and region profiles.

Issue Number 4 (Summer 2010/2011) is available now at all Foodtown, Woolworths, Countdown, Caltex stores and magazine retailers nationwide with a cover price of $7.90.
